The pupils shared a variety of topics and special interests in technology, art, performing arts, literature, history, sports and more. All the students eloquently communicated their topics, which kept the audience engaged.

The judges, Cllr. Jordan Meade of Gravesham Council, Mr William Johnson (Trustee) and Daisy Lonergan (Saint George’s Sixth Former) had the challenging task of selecting the winners after the impressive speeches. Ultimately, they selected Diamond from Halling Primary School, who presented a powerful talk about her role model, Olympic gymnast Simone Biles, as the winner. The first runner-up, Elliot from Ditton Church of England Junior School, shared an informative timeline of modern technology, and the second runner-up, Zenith from St Botolph's Church of England Primary School, enthusiastically delivered a strong speech about her favourite author.

The aim of the competition was to give the pupils the chance to improve their public speaking while providing them with an essential skill set. Throughout the process, students put a commendable amount of effort into research and preparation. They felt that they improved their speaking skills, listening, and interpretation. Everyone present at the event was enriched by the breadth of material shared. Mr Oldershaw (Director of Education), who organised this inaugural event, hopes to continue the competition in years to come.
